Imperial Roads

5 days/4 nights w/ breakfast

This trip takes us from Rio to Petrópolis, visiting the Imperial Museum there. After lunch we proceed to Ouro Preto for the 1st (Pousada "Archango" - depending on availability) of 2 overnights here.

The following day we enjoy a walking tour of Ouro Preto, visiting at least 3 jewel-like churches; the former government building, which is now a minerals-and-gems-museum; and, following that, we see a gem-lapidating workshop, where we can purchase the unique Imperial Topaz (only found in this region), for "peanuts" in relation to elsewhere. 2nd overnight.

Early next day we drive to São José Del Rey, where you take a steam-engine train to Tiradentes, where I meet you again with the car/van, in order to take you to Pousada "Villa Allegro" for 1 overnight (depending on availability). Tiradentes is a very small, yet pretty, 17th century village, which you can discover on your own.

Next morning we drive to Cunha, SP (via Rio's fringes, and the valley of the Paraïba river, where once the coffee-barons 'reigned'), where we overnight in my own "Chalets of Aybloc's Lair".

Early the following morning we drive through the mountains down to Paraty (partially quite a rough, yet very beautiful road), where we take the bay-cruise on a Saveiro (here lunch is included), and return to Rio along the winding scenic route, arriving late in the evening at your hotel there, or at the airport (your choice; I'll help!).
